One of the coolest music videos

May 27th, 2008

Lets be serious here, Michael Jackson is one of the best artists of all time. I was watching TV today and was reminded of how good the ‘Billie Jean’ video actually is. Check it out, and enjoy the cool light-up sidewalk.

What I’m listening to: Valencia

May 25th, 2008

I have been listening to alot of last.fm lately I’ve mentioned before, so naturally alot of new bands have come to my attention. One of those bands is Valencia, they are from Philadelphia and are definately amazing to listen to.

The song i ’scrobbled’ across was ‘The Space Between’ and it let me download it straight from the last.fm software, to give me a taste of their music i guess! And i definately felt it was good enough to write about.

They sound like alot of mainstream bands, but i think their songs are compelling; i believe the lyrics and sound mesh well together. The  verses and chorus are spot on and the bridge definately brings a catch to their sound.

If you would like to learn more about this band, visit their myspace page at myspace

Last.fm Overlook

May 18th, 2008

I’ve recently gotten into last.fm, i didn’t really have much interest in it before since i have a pretty big music collection. The real thing that catches me about last.fm is the social community, and how they set it up to play the artist and similar artists when you search for one. This not only gets you the band you wanted to heard, but exposes you to bands that you have maybe never heard before.

There is also the option to buy the song from them for a low cost, which in my opinion is good for the music industry. The more we fund them, the more music they will make. Seems like a good deal to me.

The social scene in last.fm i haven’t really had time to dive into yet but i will post again when i can get the full effect. Stay Tuned!

Short post: Mayday Parade

Summit Avenue

May 14th, 2008

Originally from Bellingham, Washington, this indie band amazed me the first time I heard them in 2006. Its unique guitar and vocal compositions make me still listen to this band today. The song “Based on a true story” got me hooked, its bare minimum implementation of drums baffles me but gives the song an intricate story-like approach to the indie scene.

Even though they haven’t broken into the big scene, the composition potential of this band still remains the same: Amazing. If you haven’t heard of this band, or have and haven’t been able to find them online (like me for a while). You can find them here.

Mayday Parade

May 5th, 2008

This is, hands down, one of the top bands on my play list, and has been for a while. This band is from Tallahassee, Florida and has blown my socks off with their diverse sound and vocal niceties. The first time I heard this band was on Idobi radio, the song was “Three Cheers for Five Years (Acoustic)”. It is definitely one of the best-composed punk rock songs I’ve heard to date.

Take a look out for them at the warped tour this year. It will definitely be a treat.

I highly recommend you check them out at myspace.com.

Cover songs suck! … right?

May 4th, 2008

Well, i dont think so.

During one of my youtube browsing sessions, (like some of you may do) i came across the amazing band Boyce Avenue. They have alot of covers, but their cover of “Lovestoned” by Justing Timberlake, was probably one of their best.

 Check it out below!
